Dr. Cameron Clokie – The Canadian Surgeon Who Grows Bones from Stem Cells

Dr. Cameron Clokie is a scientist, surgeon, and entrepreneur. He has vast experience teaching oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Toronto. Today, Dr. Clokie is popular for his break-through research in bone regeneration and facial reconstruction.

Educational and Career Background

Dr. Cameron Clokie attended McGill University where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1985.

He stayed on and learned bone regeneration related to interface development, for which he received his Ph.D. Dr. Clokie used his knowledge to teach others at different institutions in Canada until his retirement from academics in 2017. One of his most notable positions in academics was as the Head of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University of Toronto. Read more: Our Team – Induce Biologics

Dr. Clokie formed a bone research group in 1993 during his time at McGill University, and the research he has conducted over the decades is proving revolutionary for bone regeneration.

Growing Bones from Stem Cells

For years now surgeons have been limited to harvesting of bones and flesh from certain parts of the body to compensate for their absence in other areas. This has been helpful in recreating functionality and lessening the severity of scars, but it still leaves other areas wanting.

Today, however, Dr. Cameron Clokie is making breakthrough developments with his decades-old research on bone regeneration. He has found a way to induce regeneration in bones, and his research has been applied successfully. One good example is the case of 60-year-old Peter Russell, who sports a jawline of a man half his age. He is one of only eight patients who have undergone the procedure in Canada, and he describes it as life-changing.

Dr. Cameron Clokie uses a special protein to induce adult stem cells into evolving to bone tissue. Dr. Clokie mixes this protein with a certain gel and forms it into the shape of the lost bone. He then inserts it into the cavity where it dissolves and is replaced by real bone. The procedure takes a matter of hours depending on the severity of the injury, and healing begins in a matter of days.

Dr. Clokie has over 25 patents both in Canada and the U.S., and he is using his knowledge and the patents as leverage to bring investors and scientists onboard on his revolutionary research.
